The Liberty Bell my Great Grandfather, my Great Great Grandfather and Me, Agnes Jarrell

In the 1970's and 1980's I worked in the city of Philadelphia and frequently ate lunch just outside the door of Independence Hall where the Liberty Bell was then housed (they have since moved it and never will be seen again where the Declaration of Independence was signed). I often took a walk at lunch and passed the property of my Great Grandfather Frank Karn and Great Great Grandfather Alex Karn. Both were butchers. The old saying is never go hungry with a butcher but I would I am vegetarian (grin). I didn't know it then but I loved the street where they lived at 1250 North 11th St. without consciously knowing it was their home. It was near City Hall. |
